Supporting Individual Artists Coffee Chat: Creating
a Marketplace for Emerging Artists
Tuesday, April 23, 2019 @ 1:00PM EDT
Join Erik Culver and Alok Marwaha, Co-Founders of ArtStartArt, for
a discussion on how to better support emerging artists. Erik and Alok will talk about what they've learned emerging artists need in terms of support and how that sparked their creation of ArtStartArt, an online marketplace for emerging artists and buyers.
They will give an overview of their platform, discuss best practices with building an online marketplace for artists, and let you know what they've learned from both artists and buyers during their process. Be sure to bring your questions!
Wednesday, April 24, 2019 @ 3:00PM EDT
Despite increased calls for diversity at all levels of cultural organizations, there are still significant portions of the cultural sector that are solely White and middle
class – excluding voices of color and those that represent a wider range of socio-economic backgrounds. This workshop presents a framework for how cultural organizations can assess their current organizational culture and structure and prepare their organization
to welcome a more diverse workforce. Specific attention will be paid to articulating the different forms of bias and diversity resistance that may present themselves during the recruitment and selection processes. This session will conclude with a discussion
of practical steps toward recruiting, selecting, and onboarding a diverse workforce in previously homogenous workspaces – and there will be ample time for questions!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Yours in Learning,
Cristyn
