Subject: Please help me spread the word about the Mellon Projecting All Voices Fellowship

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this note finds you well. I’m writing with the exciting news that the call for the Mellon Projecting All Voices Fellowship is now live and accepting applications from ALAANA artists interested in exploring issues of racial equity in the arts. At ASU HIDA we are looking to support and engage four artists living and working in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado or First Nations within the geographic Southwest. With our partners at ASU Gammage and the Mellon Foundation, we have reimagined some of the program structure.

In a nutshell, Mellon Projecting All Voices Fellows will receive: a $38,000 honorarium, travel funding and support, mentorship options, opportunities to co-develop a visiting artist series, coaching to develop their documentation skills, access to ASU resources and opportunities to develop and present their work. the fellowship does not require an artistic product on residency in AZ. It is now 18 months long and is intended to focus on artists and culture bearers in the SW so that we may work in alliance with other partners who are working towards a more equitable ecology for artists in our place. This will involve the creation of co-designed public programs and we have engaged a design team for the program that includes community artist/activist leaders, students and faculty so the work and the artists have some scaffolding to better amplify their work.

We know that within your network there are some great candidates, artists who want to work with an academic institution like ASU and connect with Arizona’s communities, with the aim of advancing their artistic practice. The deadline to apply is March 15. Would you help me get the word out by sending the call to 3 artists, connecting in your newsletters or social platforms, and/or by sharing artists’ contact information?

Attached are the full program guidelines and here is the link to the fellowship call with full details: https://herbergerinstitute.asu.edu/research-and-initiatives/projecting-all-voices

Mil gracias!

Gabriela
