Dear Local Arts Leaders,
Americans for the Arts has been asked for any success stories or strategies that you might have used to prevent an entertainment tax being placed upon non-profit arts organizations.
The city council is making the argument that since these groups do not pay property tax, they should target them with an entertainment tax so they can “contribute their fair share.” I have provided general feedback on why this argument
is false, how to use an economic argument to make ones case, etc.
But, if you have been through this, and have any good suggestions, please let me know
