Good morning, LAN!

We are looking for grant review panelists for our annual arts & culture grants. The City of Reno gives out grants to arts and culture nonprofits each year for events and programming happening in the City of Reno. There are two categories of grants, Event Grants and Project Grants. The City of Reno's grant program challenges arts and culture nonprofits to serve Reno's traditionally under-invested populations and to seek innovative partnerships. The grant applications ask organizations to demonstrate social impact beyond a traditional audience experience as well as a plan to reach diverse and under-served populations.

As you likely already know, serving on a peer-review panel is a powerful learning experience and a valuable contribution to the arts. Peer review panels include cultural practitioners, arts educators, and arts field professionals who represent diversity in all forms including age, race, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, and heritage. All panelists will receive an honorarium for their participation of $350.

Participating as a grant review panelist is a 5-week commitment. During this time, panelists will review and score all assigned applications independently using our online grant management system. We generally have around 25 applications to review. Then, panelists will participate in an open public meeting to discuss each application and provide final scores (meetings will be held virtually). After panel meetings are completed, the Reno Arts & Culture Commission convenes to discuss the grant panel review and to vote on final grant allocations. The Reno City Council will have final approval of all grant allocations.

We will have two separate review panels, one for our Event Grants and one for our Project Grants. Panelists will be assigned based on their availability to attend the review panels. If you are interested in participating, please respond to this email and also include your preference/ availability for Panel Review virtual meetings on November 1 or 2 from 11-1 PT.
