Hello LAN and CAN:

Last month, Results for America, a national organizations helping decision-makers use evidence and data to solve challenges, presented their findings from 16 local jurisdictions that participated in their Local Government Fellowship program. The Fellowship was designed to help local government leaders tackle policy challenges for their cities and counties over a 2-3 year timeframe and some of these projects involved policy areas relevant to the arts, the creative economy and youth.

Local governments in this report with an indication of their relevant work included:

• Albuquerque, NM – Created Technology & Innovation Department
• Atlanta
• Baltimore – Mayor Catherine Pugh presented. Worked with J-PAL North America on reducing homelessness among unaccompanied youth
• Cook County, IL – Designed targeted Opportunity Youth programs, evaluation of Youth Summer Job program.
• Dallas – Developed shared equity indicators
• King County, WA – Adopted learning agenda and evaluation plan for Best Starts for Kids initiative
• Los Angeles – Launched Innovation Fund
• Louisville – Developed common metrics for anti-poverty programs
• Montgomery County, MD
• New Orleans
• New York City – Created Children’s Budget, launched Nonprofit Resiliency Community
• Philadelphia – Research partnership with Univ. of Michigan on impact of youth summer jobs.
• Salt Lake County, UT
• Seattle – New accountability framework for all city departments
• Tulsa – Mayor G.T. Bynum presented. New measures on city vitality and volunteering
• Washington, DC
