I’d recommend Cleo Parker Robinson Dance in Denver, Colo.: https://cleoparkerdance.org/

Malik Robinson, executive director, is on CBCA’s board and leads this dynamic organization that was founded in 1974 .  He can be reached at malik@cleoparkerdance.org.

Malik also suggests the following organizations to add to your list:

African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque, Lula Washington Dance Theatre in LA, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Philadanco in Philly, King Arts Complex in Columbus, and MOAD in San Francisco.

Hope this helps!

Good afternoon, Everyone,

Hope you are well and had a terrific Memorial Day Weekend!

I am doing some quick research and I am seeking your input. Do any of your cities have/do you know of cities that have a sustainable African American arts organization that is:

  • Anchored by performing arts
  • Housed in meaningful space
  • Positioned to attract large audiences
  • Provide additional programming to attract other sources of revenue

If yes, can you please send the names of these organizations my way?

Thank you in advance for your response!

With best regards,

Janice
