Hi Joy, Elayna, et al
Thank you for reaching out and congratulations on the new position!
In response to your first inquiry, here is a link to the
2017 Survey of Public Art Programs which provides a national look at many components of public art programs, including relationships to municipalities.
For the second questions, we host a listing of public art service providers in our search online
Public Art Services Directory, including consultants.
I am sure other public arts admins on the listserv can provide examples of consultant RFQ’s.
As someone who is new to public art administration, which comes with a whole host of unique needs and skill sets, I recommend connecting with your peers through both Americans
for the Arts (AFTA) nation-wide Public Art Network and the
Florida Association of Public Art Professionals. Access to the AFTA Public Art Network is a benefit of membership with AFTA. To learn how to join, visit

For your reference and consideration of membership, here is a full list of all of our public art-related member benefits:
Congratulations again on your new position. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I am less than 30 days on the job here at the Cultural Council. While I have tremendous experience in arts administration, my knowledge about public art administration is very limited. I need the help of this network - I don't know what
I don't know! My starter questions are:
1. Who among you represent NPO's that administer public art on behalf of a municipality? Would you be willing to talk with me and/or point me in the direction of best practices relative to the NPO-Municipal relationship;
2. Can anyone recommend public art consultants who can assist with: project management ($800K +/- budget) and process/procedure development of a public art program; and
3. Can anyone provide a sample RFP for seeking such a consultant?
I can be reached at the contact information below.
Thank you.
