Subject: RFQ - The New SLC Art Wall
Hello Public Art Colleagues,
I’m hoping you all can share the opportunity below with your artist lists.
The Salt Lake City Department of Airports and the Salt Lake Arts Council are pleased to invite artists to submit qualifications for The New SLC Art Wall public art opportunity.
When The New SLC Airport opens in fall of 2020, the facilities will feature a number of unique art installations, including The New SLC Art Wall, a large art installation located at the TSA security checkpoint. The location for the installation
is a high-visibility area, which means more than 25 million passengers going through airport screening each year will see the artwork.
The installation will be approximately 30 feet wide x 11 feet high and located in a high-touch area of the airport. The artwork should speak to the spirit, cultures, people and context of Utah. Artists responding to the Request for Qualifications
(RFQ), must demonstrate a proficiency in executing work on a similar scope and scale.
The Salt Lake Art Design Board and Airport representatives will review the submissions and narrow it down to three finalists. Those three finalists will visit the construction site to view where the piece will be installed before proposing
concepts for the space. One artist will be selected for the final installation. Due to the location of the installation, the artwork must be highly durable and low maintenance.
Budget is up to $235,000 – Deadline is April 17, 2019
