So obviously going with four letters would be much less costly if you can make the four letters work for you. Also much less space consuming if your city i dense.

To state the obvious the Robert Indiana LOVE sculpture is very iconic but is an actual word. HOPE works but is also an actual word.

There are lots of neighborhoods and communities that have for twitter purposes and marketing created a four letter acronym. While these are not words by their repeated use makes them recognizable. If the budgets on the full spelling gives you pause then this approach is a winner. And you can probably make the letter assembly taller.

NoMa in the Washington, DC area stands for North of Massachusetts Avenue.
