We used a combination of sensors, observation with counters and documentation of type of interaction, and one of the installations (swings) had their own internal sensors the artists invented that tracked users and length of interaction.

When the QR code was popular we engraved QR codes into marble tiles and imbedded then in to the hardscape in front of the most photographed view of the art work. When a viewer scanned the art work they would get info on the art with the artist bio. Moreover we could track the # number of hits per day on the web site.

Subject: Tracking interaction with Public Art

Out city wants to track percentage of people interacting with public art. Two questions:

·         What method(s) does your program use to capture the number of people interacting with public art

·         Is there comparative data available that we can use as a marker

My apologies if this was covered in a previous thread.

Thanks!
