Hi Nicole,

Here is the City of Providence ordinance that called for the creation of our Art in City Life Commission:  https://library.municode.com/ri/providence/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIICOOR_CH2AD_ARTXXIIARLI

Ordinance was created in 1980. Commission established in 2016, Art in City Life Plan unveiled in 2018, and fy20 will be the first year the percent for art will be allocated. Sometimes this takes a while ;-)

See the plan, pg 40, for a brief scope of work for the commission w/r/t a standard commissioning process.

Best,

Gina

Subject: Charter: Commission for Public Art

Hello All,

I hope you're doing something more interesting on a Friday evening than reading this email!

For when you return from a fun-filled weekend, I could use some insight.

I am looking for an excellent (or very good? or fairly decent?) charter or scope of work for a public art commission which falls under a municipality.  I am working to support a small city who is in the process of starting a commission to deal with the realities of public art and I am looking for best practices in putting together the body of people who will serve the city in this effort as well as a charter or job description of some kind.

Any templates or just random pieces of advice are appreciated.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Nicole
