We used preformed thermoplastic for this project.

Obviously waterjet cut metal stencils and then spraying on the thermoplastic or an epoxy paint would be cheaper for repeated parts. 

Red and other bright colors tend to fade. 

Not sure if there’s a durable non petroleum based coating that lasts.
