Hi friends in PAN:
We at Utah Cultural Alliance have recently created a
generic public art ordinance for cities in our state to assist them in creating % for art programs. This project came about because as I would talk to Utah cities about creating public art programs they'd always say, "We don't have the time to research everything that's out there. If you can get me an ordinance that we can adapt to our needs, we'll get a program passed!" Hence the project was born.
First, I welcome any comments you have on our ordinance. We are working on a companion ordinance for cities with re-development authorities.
As a result of the project, I am now working with five Utah cities to pass a % for art ordinance this year (we currently only have 8 programs in UT). I've got upcoming city council presentations before all of them. I am hoping any of y'all might have a presentation or other materials I can quote on the benefits of what public art does for cities? We've already done a google search and found some opportunities, but I bet the PAN also has resources that I can't find online. :)
Thanks!
Crystal
