I want to see a session entitled "Embracing the Amateur.  The Future to Art Worldwide"   I strongly believe that artists, performers, writers, designers, inventors, etc will be and support subcultures that provide the escape from the world's coming mono-culture.

You’ll see this notice (below) tomorrow when it goes out officially, but we wanted to make sure you got to see it first! It’s Annual Convention session proposals time—and to get that rolling we’ve also unveiled some important information about the 2020 Annual Convention in Washington, DC!

 

The 2020 Annual Convention is embracing some major, exciting changes in programming and format—and the first step in that is the release of a new Session Proposals process, which is open right now!

 

So check it out below, click on the various links to learn more about the two concurrent conferences that now make up the Annual Convention (What?! you say—take a look below!), and start thinking about your perfect session proposal! The deadline for session proposals is October 2, 2019—we’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Annual Convention 2020 Session Proposals Now Open! Featuring New Conference Structures and Proposal Process Submit your session proposals for the 2020 Americans for the Arts Annual Convention! We want you and your ideas to take center stage in a national dialogue about the role of the arts in community life!   LOCAL TO GLOBAL. In 2020, the Annual Convention will land in Washington, D.C., for the first time in nearly 20 years. As one of the most historically diverse regions in the United States, the D.C. metro region is a place that is always local, national, and international simultaneously. Here, culture is interwoven everywhere. Residents who have been here for generations exist alongside constant waves of political arrivals and departures and cultures and flavors from across the world. In both the public and private sectors, this region houses one of the most thriving, diverse, and creativity-driven economies in the country.  NEW THIS YEAR! ONE CITY, TWO CONFERENCES! New this year, the Annual Convention will include two simultaneous, separate, 2 ½-day conferences:  The Arts, Culture, and Community Life Conference is about the intersection of arts, culture, community development, civic engagement, creative economy, education, and social impact. This conference is designed for arts administrators, cultural leaders, community activists, artists, educators, and partners interested in bettering their communities through arts and culture.    The Public Art & Civic Design Conference will further dialogue and learning about art and design in the built environment. This conference is designed for arts administrators, artists, arts and culture leaders, placemakers and keepers, municipal agents, and other professionals in the planning, transportation, and development fields who are working at the intersection of art and the built environment. Both conferences will run from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2020 in Washington, D.C., and both will include excursions to adjoining areas of Maryland and Virginia.
