Hello,

I reccommended taking at look at the Public Art for Public Schools Program based in NYC.

https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/buildings/public-art-for-public-schools

And

http://www.nycsca.org/Community/Public-Art-for-Public-Schools/Programs

They have a long history of commissions, collection management, and also placing artists in residence through a program called Sites for Students.

Hello All,

Does anyone have examples (preferably good examples!) of public art programs implemented by public education systems. I am especially interested in secondary at this time, but postsecondary is absolutely useful as well.

Specific areas of need include insight around:
  • Collection management
  • Donation procedures and best practices
  • Policy for maintenance
  • General administrative guidelines
  • Student curriculum/engagement
  • Collection management
  • Resources and financial obligations for districts
  • Permissible use of funds
  • Artist selection process
  • Student artist engagement
Any insight or connections to insight is so appreciated.

Many thanks,

Nicole
