Hello everyone,
We would also be interested in this topic as well. We are in the process of developing a mural program on public property as well as private property.
Thank you,
Cheryl

Good morning everyone,

Sacramento is going to be starting a community discussion about murals and mural policies, and we would be grateful for your insights and experiences.

We are kicking it off with a speaker series to look at and discuss murals historically and in Sacramento specifically.  Some cities have adopted formal policies on community process and mural making.  Some have ordinances that require permits.  And, others I’ve researched thus far seem to have created a hybrid form of mural proposal review.  If your city has gone through such a discussion and adopted (or not adopted) a mural policy or ordinance, would you be willing to share a link to your current policy / ordinance regarding murals and/or your experience and insights?

We are looking into updating our current policy regarding murals on city property but also opening up the discussion regarding proposed projects on private property.  Having a registry of mural locations as part of the policy is appealing to many including our code enforcement folks who at times feel challenged in their efforts to abate vandalism and unsanctioned graffiti.  Any assistance, sample policies, or ideas you might be willing to share are greatly appreciated.

All the best,

Donald
