If you have Netflix, I recommend that you watch the first episode on memory in the "the mind explained".  Although the producer did not make the connection, the way that human's remember is exactly like the way artists make public art:  emotion, place and story.  Additionally, humans imagine the future using the same structure as remembering.  "Imagine the future" is just another way or saying "creating art".  (The "future" is not sci-fi future, but just projection in your mind.)

Very interesting that the Pope has commissioned public sculpture to send his message of compassion for refugees and migrants.  Why 500 years after Renaissance popes re-built Rome with art and architecture is a brilliant, social media savvy man using public art again?
