Hi PAN Listserv,
Today starts
National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM), a time to collectively celebrate and recognize arts and culture across the country. Here are a few public art-related ways to engage with this annual affair:
- The
#ShowYourArt2019 post-a-day Instagram challenge with daily themes to and encourage others to join!
Check out each of the themes and look out for a variety of public art topics such as Street art (October 3rd), Public Art (October 19th), Monuments (October 26th), and more!
- Attend an ArtsU
Creative Conversation with some of our 2019 Leadership Award winners, including
PAN Awardee Roberto Bedoya. And host a Creative Conversation in your community by gathering local leaders to discuss the topic “How is the past shaping the future of the arts?”. Learn
more here.
- Ask for a local government proclamation. Your mayor, city council, even your governor can officially declare National Arts & Humanities Month—and our
sample proclamation (Word document download) will make it easy. (If you get one, make sure to send it to us!) We’re are thrilled to once again have a proclamation from the
U.S. Conference of Mayors!
You can find
resources to talk to the media about NAHM, including a sample press release and a guide for writing an op-ed or letter to the editor about the power of the arts & humanities. AFTA’s own press release about NAHM
can be found here.
Enjoy engaging with this national celebration as a way to highlight the importance of the arts in your community!
