Hi Emily and Public Art Colleagues,

So many things are tied to math! You might want to narrow your focus.

That said, my project Mathematique Nouveau explored arithmetic embodied by a herd of sheep on a collective farm in France. I worked with the farmer to shear sheep with mathematical symbols.  Led by the bellwether, flock dynamics performed equations of addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. My artist-initated work led to a film and still photography exhibition in Valence, France.    Let me know if you want a link to the film.

Hi all,

We are working on a smaller budget project (between $35,000 and $40,000) for a math building. This will be an indoor piece and should be fairly abstract, but also have ties to mathematics concepts. Has anyone done any similar type projects that I could see or have artist recommendations for this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Emily
