At first glance, $150,000 seems crazy.  But if you assume that the design fee is for schematic design with a value of 3% of the construction budget, then the monument's construction cost would be $5,000,000.

Urban Confluence is a design competition to create a 21st Century monument in Silicon Valley.  Finalists will receive $150,000 stipends to develop and present their ideas.
