It’s a seawall, not a flood wall, but a couple of interesting examples in Seattle, both designed to support plant and shellfish habitat and thus support the juvenile salmon run along the edge of Elliott Bay, one by Haddad|Druggan and another by James Corner Field Operations.

Urban Confluence is a design competition to create a 21st Century monument in Silicon Valley. Finalists will receive $150,000 stipends to develop and present their ideas. The project is sponsored by an independent non-profit based in San Jose. There is a webinar describing the project on Thursday, November 7.
