Just out of curiosity what does the building and the proposed art look like?

What’s the name of the historic district.

There’s lots of public art in Historic Areas in DC.

Hi PAN Pals!

My saga with our Historical Commission continues!

We are trying to integrate public art into the construction of a high profile building and our Historic Commission will not recommend it based on subjective aesthetic standards. We are working to find ways where the HC and the Public Art Advisory Board can work harmoniously together, but are trying to avoid the HC’s subjective aesthetic standards being imposed on the public art. Does anyone have examples of a harmonious structure that works well in their city?

Thanks so much!

Jo

BTW: An update, our Council vote was moved to Tuesday and this project has done just what it should do – gotten people to think about the public realm and started important conversations about our city’s identity 😊 Keep your fingers crossed for me.
