Hi Robbie--we are about to launch a 2nd phase of a project with artists creating small public art "interventions" in city neighborhoods. One of our upcoming artists is a poet and hopefully she will have a great installation. We are paying $1,000 for an original poem and the associated "intervention," which could be performed or a visual installation.

Aside from that, I really like these two projects:  Word Around Town in San Antonio (https://www.facebook.com/wordaroundtownSA/) and Write Denver (http://www.writedenver.org/).

For permanent projects there is the St. Paul sidewalk poetry initiative (https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/public-works/sidewalk-poetry) (which other cities have started versions of--including here in Indianapolis:  https://www.indyartsguide.org/public-art/library-square-sidewalk-poetry/ . I'm sure I can think of more if I put my mind to it.

Understanding that language is a powerful tool, the City of Oklahoma City’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs would like to ask network members about their experience using text/written word as a basis for public art.  We’d like to see examples of workwith small and large budgets and we’d love to know about artist fees for work as small as one line and as large as a paragraph.  We’re especially interested in examples in sidewalks, trails and benches or other infrastructure improvements.  Thank you.
