Hi Julia:
Interesting to receive this and see that you are branching out to projects in Allentown. Have you left the Philadelphia downtown redevelopment world? Has Phillie run out of the Ed Bacon legacy of downtown redevelopment parcels?
Mags and I downsized a bit, converted the upper floor of our studio building into our residence, about 1,500 square feet of nice sunny space, a block from the Porter Square subway station, everything available within walking distance, and still have about another 1,500 sf for the working studio. Fortunately we are in good health and keeping plenty busy
We have two grand kids, 6 and 4, living in California.
Your boys must be almost grown up. How is everybody doing?
With all the best,
Lajos

Hello colleagues,

I'm working on a very exciting project with the City of Allentown, PA to develop a multi-year public art program.

Allentown is an interesting city at a critical juncture. They have incredibly rapid, well-designed redevelopment going on in their downtown core with over $1B in new and planned development in the downtown business district in the last decade alone. And at the same time in surrounding neighborhoods there is a growing immigrant population, and Allentown today is now a majority minority city with over 50% of residents identifying as Hispanic or Latino. Allentown’s population is now the highest in the city’s history.

Allentown’s city leadership understands that the immigrant community and the redeveloping downtown are both vital to the success of the city.  This public art opportunity is intended, in part, to make a visual bridge between neighborhood communities and the downtown core.

We've just issued our first artist RFP, which is a great opportunity for emerging public artists.  Please take a look and share if so inclined:
