Reminder: This is the last week to apply for the two public art opportunities at Clinton National Airport, so please review the projects and application process today! Qualifications are due by the end of day on Sunday, August 23.  Eligible artists must currently reside in Arkansas or have lived, worked or studied in the state.

The terrazzo floor project will finish the updated pre-security lobby, an area that welcomes millions each year. The selected artist need not have experience working in terrazzo, just an interest in exploring something new and having their artwork translated into a new medium. The selected artist will receive a $10,000 design fee and work with the project architects and contractors to bring their design to life in terrazzo.

The wall art project will be located on a curved wall in the concourse exit area. The wall art project is also open to artists with a variety of experience levels, including those who have never done a large-scale public art installation. The selected artist will be paid a $10,000 design fee. An additional $90,000 is available for fabrication and installation, which can be conducted by the artist or by a professional fabricator and installer selected by the airport. LIT is looking for an artist to design or design/create artwork in a durable material like mosaic, painted mural, prints on glass, 2D sculptural installations, the options are limitless.

The full descriptions of the opportunities and links to the applications can be found on the LIT website: Here, or by searching “Little Rock Airport” on callforentry.org. You will have to set up a free account through callforentry.org to apply. There is no need to create a design at this time! In the application you will share your qualifications only, primarily images of your past work, your artist statement and how you might approach the project. Submissions are due August 23, 2020.
