Subject: Now Accepting Applications for Art Design in San Mateo Affordable Housing Development

Hello –

MidPen Housing is seeking 1-2 graphic artists to create digital images to be printed on four façade panels of a 5-story parking garage as part of a 100% affordable housing development in San Mateo, CA.  The development, called Kiku Crossing, will consist of workforce housing and public parking at two adjacent downtown parcels. MidPen Housing Corporation is working in partnership with the City of San Mateo to develop the sites. The residential building will consist of up to 225 rental units for families in a 7-story structure, including one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments as well as studios. Construction is estimated to start in November 2021.  

Up to four finalists will be selected and each finalist will receive a $1,000 honorarium to develop their proposals. The 1-2 selected artists will be commissioned $10,000 per panel design.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to be engaged in the process through two City’s Civic Arts Committee meetings (one in March and one in May 2021).

We will accept applications until 9:00 AM on Monday, February 1, 2021. [Now extended to Monday, February 8, 2021]
