Dear PAN,

 

4Culture and the Cultural Landscape Foundation are requesting letters from our regional and national colleagues in support of the nomination of Robert Morris’ Untitled Earthwork (Johnson Pit #30) to the National Register of Historic Places.

 

Submitted letters should address the significance of the 1979 symposium Earthworks: Land Reclamation as Sculpture and Morris’ Johnson Pit #30 in terms of their place and influence in art history and public art practice.

 

If approved, this would be the first work of Land Art to receive such status, establishing significant precedent for the preservation of other endangered earthworks and reclamation projects around the country.
