Hi Janet –

Austin AIPP has been using Percent-for-Art funds to create temporary art to engage community, researching community interests to gain insights that will inform the permanent artwork. As an example, we had great success in 2019 partnering with local arts organization Forklift Danceworks, contracting with them to hire local artists Cindy Elizabeth and Ernesto Hernandez to create temporary art installations to display and get feedback at their Givens Swims performances. AIPP will use the knowledge gained through this research for the permanent artwork phase of the project.

Subject: temporary projects funded by Percent dollars

*** External Email - Exercise Caution ***

Greetings,

I am researching programs that use some part of their Percent-for-Art funds for temporary projects. (That is, using some of the funding generated from a percent of capital expenses, as written in an ordinance. I only know of the City of Seattle so far.)

If you have such a program, would you be so kind as to send me the details?

Many thanks!

Janet
