Hi Amanda!

That’s an interesting question. We may have some examples here in Massachusetts. We have local cultural councils in each municipality that work within the town/city, but independently in many ways and are directly funded from us, the state arts agency. Let me know if you’d like to chat! I can’t think of a specific example with this criteria, but I could ask around.

All the best,

Subject: Seeking examples of contracts between local govt. and arts org for artwork commissioning

Hello All,

I am looking for examples of contracts between a local govt. entity (city, county, etc.) and a local arts organization for public artwork commissioning. Ideally, we're seeking examples where the city provides the funds to the arts org to support the initiative, but issuing of RFQ/RFP and contracts, and payments to artist(s) would be handled by the arts org. Once the piece is completed, then the piece would be handed over to the city to add to their collection with another written agreement.

This arrangement does not necessarily need to specify the funding source (Percent for Art Ordinance/Fund, Hotel Tax, etc.)

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Best,

Amanda Dyer
