On the curtain: try a theatrical supply company or an event rental company. The dramatic drop down is called a kabuki drop and it works best with a silk or other lightweight fabric and actuator-released clips. It's cool but frighteningly expensive. Otherwise you can get regular pipe and drape, and rig a pulley system.

My best reveal was when we had the dedication event in a tent and had the sculpture wrapped when everyone arrived, then unwrapped it during the ceremony in the tent. When the moment came we simply dropped one wall of the tent!

Hello PAN members,

We are thinking about developing a "local projects" page on our website where potential clients can post calls for small commissions and local artists can respond to the client directly (ex. small murals, painted benches, etc.) I'd love to see examples of LAAs or other orgs who facilitate this type of work. Or if you have success stories, recommendations, pitfalls to avoid, etc. I'm eager to hear those as well.

Additionally, someone who is executing a local mural has asked for sources/examples for some type of enormous curtain or drape that can be raised or lowered to reveal a mural in a dramatic fashion. The completed mural will be on a wall that is 55'h x 45' wide. Can anyone provide examples/sources/tips for something on this scale?

Any helpful information that you can provide on either question would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Amanda Dyer
