Creative Waco in Waco, Texas is working with consulting firm Forecast Public Art to develop a public art strategic plan for the city of Waco, and we are gathering benchmarking information on municipal public art budgets across the US. Specifically, we are interested in the following questions to understand the per capita spend for various cities:
- What is your city's total population?
- What was your city's aggregate public art budget for FY19? (We are looking for a "typical" year of activities/programs.)
- What were your total staff and overhead costs for that year?
- What were your maintenance/conservations costs for that year?
- Does your public art budget include a "percent for public art" from capital improvements/CIP? Y/N
- Does your public art budget include a percent from private development? Y/N
We would appreciate any information you can provide from the city where you work. We hope that the information can provide some guidance on building our annual public art budgets moving forward.
