Dear PAN,
I am writing to let you know that I am leaving Americans for the Arts as of Thursday, August 31st. Words can’t describe what an honor it has been to serve you and the greater public art field for the better part of a decade. Though
leaving Americans for the Arts is a personal decision, I am overwhelmed with the memories. It has been wonderful meeting so many of you either at a convention, in your own communities, and more so lately, through a computer screen. So much has changed within
the public art field and I am always amazed at how innovative and thoughtful you are in addressing the new as it arises. You all care so much about the communities you serve.
As AFTA continues to transition and step forward in a new way to support the local arts field, I hope you celebrate all the amazing things you have accomplished as a community. And I plan to be there in my own way as I move into
the private sector and build my own public art consulting business.
As I depart, I want to make sure you have contact information to support your continued engagement with AFTA. As part of our Local Arts Engagement team, Mital Lyons-Warren will be your main contact at
mlyonswarren@artsusa.org. Our membership team made up of Mandi Lee and Michael Chodos will be your main contacts at
membership@artsusa.org. The membership team can help you with any questions regarding the PAN Listserv or any other benefits.
A few reminders about the PAN Listserv, to post to the Listserv, send an email to
public_art_network@americansforthearts.simplelists.com; and here you can access the
Archive Link for the listserv. To log into the archive, you will need to use the email address that you receive the listserv.
It has been my privilege to serve you all. If you would like to stay in touch (and hope you do!) my email is
pwalsh@pawalsharts.com, and my LinkedIn page is at
www.linkedin.com/in/patriciawalsh.
Thank you for everything you do.
Best Wishes to You All,
Patricia Walsh

I am working on a “request for acquisition” that will be distributed to locally-based galleries to submit artworks on behalf of their artists. Does anyone have guidelines on best practice for limiting the number
of submissions a gallery can make?
For example, we have it set up now where a gallery can submit up to 5 artworks for one artist in one submission. Should it be capped how many artists a gallery can put forward aka how many submissions? We are also
considering admin and selection panel hours.
Would love to hear your experiences and what has worked/not worked!
Many thanks,
Piper Faust
