Hi!

I have done this and have seen it done in two different ways and have some stenciling tips as well.

1)      Spend a little more on a heavier grade, one full piece  laser cut stencil(s)

2)      I have used the Scotch- water proof spray product that is often used to water proof canvas etc.

a.      This is a two-step process so you will need to mark the outer corners of your stencil to line it back up for the second step in the process. This is also when you appreciate tip #1

b.      This is not an eco-friendly approach, but it lasts the longest and you get the “appearing when wet” effect

3)      Power-washing method

a.      Again, a thicker, one piece stencil is key to this

b.      The method is to power wash the stenciled area

c.      This is the most eco-friendly approach but it is short lived

4)      Hire Rain-Art to do it. He has come up with an eco-friendly product but, as of the last inquiry (and I don’t blame him) won’t release his secret product unless commissioned.

J

Cheers!

Hi, all—

If anyone has been doing a sidewalk poetry project where you are stamping words into fresh concrete, I’d love to pick your brain about three technical issues:  the exact concrete specification you’re using (and that is working for you), the amount of time you are allowing for the poured concrete to set up before stamping, and the nature of the release agent you are using on the stamp form.  We’re doing testing for a project right now and nothing we are trying seems to work the way we need it to.

Thanks,
