We have few roundabouts in Indianapolis, but there are tons in Carmel, IN just to our north and they are starting to put sculpture in them.
Here’s their latest installation:
http://www.indyartsguide.org/public-art/beacon-bloom/ It is on the border between Indianapolis and Carmel. You will notice that most of the “interest” is up high with very little blockage down at street level. I believe that was deliberate. I can put you in touch with the artist if you like, to see if he was given any specific instructions during the design process.

Does anyone have design guidelines for placing and sizing public art in a roundabout? I am specifically looking for information that will keep the cone of vision open so that drivers can see other cars and pedestrians. I have found several resources from the Department of Transportation but curious if there are other standards that agencies are using. If you have a RFP that includes this info, please send it my way!
Thank you,
Stephanie Troyan
