Patricia,

I strongly recommend Portland based artist Geraldine Ondrizek who has been collaborating with genetic and medical researchers to make architectural based installations for many years.  More information on her can be found here and here.  Below is an excerpt from her artist statement:

For 20 years, I have created architectural installations based on cellular and genetic Information to explore personal, political, and ethical issues related to genetics, ethnicity and human disease. My work employs textiles, sound and projection on an architectural scale so the viewer can experience the phenomena of material and information in space. Science informs my work: each piece results from lengthy collaborations with scientists and medical researchers with the goal of producing work that incorporates and comments on medicine and genetics.

Subject: DNA Artists

All PAN;

I'm working with a private developer in the Midwest to create a mobile DNA unit and a permanent DNA public art work. This could very well be two different projects and two different artists. It could also be two different approaches, exploring DNA for ancestry, and DNA for health.

If you have any suggestions for artists who can translate scientific data into either an art van/truck and a three dimensional sculpture (possibly digital), please let me know!

I'll be sending out invitations soon for proposals privately. There will be an honorarium paid for the proposals.

Thanks,

Patricia Watts
