Hi PAN Listserv,

As a former follower of the PAN Listserv and its current moderator I enjoy reading each of the emails that pass through the system – from the support each of you show for each other when handling difficult issues to the amazing amount of calls that are happening throughout the field it is always a wonderment that all of you do such phenomenal work for your communities…and it isn’t always easy. The PAN Listserv is here to help develop the community of public art professionals, artists, consultants and others who are making public art happen in their community. From small, newly minted programs to larger established programs we all have a lot to share and to learn from each other, and to celebrate each other’s achievements.

The PAN Listserv, since its inception over 15 years ago is an email based system designed to make it easy to access for the busy professionals who want to connect with and support their colleagues across the field. Communication, particularly through writing can be a fickly means of engagement. From personal experience, I know that sometimes even a well-crafted email can misrepresent ones intentions, which is why internally here at AFTA we aim to assume positive intent when interacting with others. From my four years as your Public Art Programs manager I have meet many of you in person and observe the interactions via the listserv. I know each of you have the best interests of your colleagues at heart and are on the listserv to both support and learn from each other.

I also understand that, particularly of late, there have been a lot of communications happening on the PAN Listserv – it is a crazy and busy time for the public art field – and our inboxes can be full already with just our own work. This is why the listserv system has options to receive each email individually or as a daily digest, so you can receive all of the days communications in one email. To update your listserv settings simple go to https://www.simplelists.com/ and join/sign in with the email you use to receive the listserv.

Let’s continue to support and care for each other as we create healthy, vibrant and equitable communities through public art.

Best,

Patricia
