Hi all -

No one is interested in stealing stone.  Nice, black engraved granite works well and should be fairly affordable. 😁

Hi Megan—

Theft of signs is a problem for us too—that is why we have gone to very inexpensive PVC sheet signage with “burned” printing, and attached them with construction adhesive.  This way if they are stolen, it’s cheap and easy to reprint and replace.

Another solution is thin metal with text printed on an adhesive vinyl stock, peeled and attached.  These don’t tend to disappear but they only last a couple/three years (depending on weather conditions).  Again, you can simply scrape off the worn adhesive vinyl and replace with reprinted vinyl.

Hi all,

We are working on getting all of our outdoor public art labeled. Currently, we have a few different types of signage--most of it is metal (stainless steel or otherwise) that is bolted to concrete or the base of the sculpture. However, we have an issue with signage getting stolen.

I'm wondering if any of you have experience with this and have found something that works well and is not enticing to steal or vandalize. Engraved stainless is pretty expensive when you are looking at labeling 75 pieces of art. What is the best way to attach the signage so that it can't be stolen? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

Megan
