The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s Art in Public Places is pleased to announce a Call to Artists for a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Phase II of the Downtown Investment Authority’s Urban Arts Project.

Downtown Investment Authority Urban Arts Project Phase II, City of Jacksonville, FL

Budget

The total artist budget is $104,718 for all categories.

 

Summary

The call is for 2-D and 3-D artists who can address streetscape aesthetics with functional and interactive public art to enhance the downtown entertainment district, especially at night. Applying artists are encouraged to explore innovative designs to integrate illumination and renewable sources of energy into the public art. The awarded artist budget is inclusive of the cost of travel to Jacksonville for site visit, public meeting and energy partner meeting prior to designing a proposal. Eligible artists/artist teams from the USA may apply for one or all four categories. In a designated combination of two or more project categories, the respective category budgets would be combined. The four categories of public art include vinyl wrapped traffic signal cabinets, sculptural bicycle racks, 2-D art and outdoor sculpture.


Eligibility

This opportunity is open to participation by experienced local, regional and national artists or artist teams. Local artists are encouraged to apply. Artists or artist teams making application shall be of appropriate status and generally be recognized by recognized art professionals, as artists of serious intent and recognized ability, and shall not be a member of the project architectural, engineering, or design team or of the Art in Public Places Committee, Art Selection Panel or the Cultural Council Board or their respective Staffs.
