Wow! That is totally amazing.
We are interested in painting columns or if anyone has found a technology for encasing them and wrapping them like some cities do with parking meters.
Thanks so much!

Subject: RE: Aesthetic Bridge Columns
The Baltimore Farmers Market is held under an elevated portion of the I-83/Jones Falls Expressway that cuts through downtown.
In 2006 the Baltimore Mural Program began wrapping the columns in murals by local artists. The themes and imagery of the murals varies widely from farm/food related imagery to portraits and historical references
and just fun decorative designs. The variety and scope has become a kind of mini-museum of some of Baltimore’s best mural talent and the breadth of style being created at that time.
The murals are painted directly on to the concrete columns, some may have a sealant over them. They are generally protected from direct sunlight but some of them suffer more damage from highway run-off than
others.
A little over 10 years on, there are a couple that could use full repainting, but most of them have held up pretty well.
I’m not sure if murals/painting applications are really what you are looking for but if it’s helpful we could dig up some more photos of the murals amidst market activity. I would also recommend looking at the
amazing murals of Chicano Park in San Diego.

Subject: Aesthetic Bridge Columns
Dear Colleagues,
Have any of you had any experience with wrapping concrete bridge columns or with somehow “sleeving” the columns to wrap them?
I have seen tile on columns, but still would appreciate any photos or information you can send related to bridge column aesthetics.
Thanks.
