Hi All -

Ball-Nogues Studio agreed to a fee for use of Cradle in the background of a car ad. If I remember correctly, permission and the fee were agreed to after the fact (the footage had already been shot). Also, Havel and Ruck had a sticky situation with a car ad using their work: https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Artists-behind-iconic-Houston-sculpture-sue-Honda-4492140.php I would be curious to know how that turned out.

Hi All – Does anyone have any experience with film productions shooting around their public art collections?

Is it necessary for film productions to get permission from the artist and/or from the municipality/province/state as the artwork owner to use a public artwork in their film? Would they be required to credit the work/artist at the end of the film?

My provincial colleague is asking about a large public artwork owned by the province that will be included in scenes shot near our Law Courts building.

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!
