Meagan, if you’re not able to get enough data directly from PAN respondents, you might try contacting the Registrars at museums that have significant  sculpture collections. Many of them will probably have that info.

My former employer The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art comes to mind. At one time, I could tell you the height and weight of an Oldenburg & van Bruggen Shuttlecock...but it has been over 15 years since I left there, so I no longer remember that info.

Cheers!

Hi public art world,

Have you recently made or commissioned a sculpture and know the total object weight?

I have a client who is a visual learner, and has requested a selection of outdoor freestanding sculpture and indoor atrium suspended sculpture with a photo and total weight of the object, to inform engineering of their building structure. (I understand the total weight does not describe the per sf weight, but client is interested in total weight). Size is not a constraint, and light weight objects will be just as informative as heavy ones for this exercise.

Would you be so kind as to share:

-       one photo (installed with something in it for scale would be useful but not necessary)

-       weight

-       main material

-       artist name (so I can keep the credit associated)

Thanks so much in advance for the crowd-sourced knowledge.
