Hi Carrie,

From my point of view, the "source code" for many of the policies across the country were inspired by the Regional Arts and Culture Council.  (Thank you RACC!) You can find a link to their guidelines here:

I have used them a couple of times as a reference when developing new policies at different programs. 

Here are the three things I think are most important to include in a policy.

1. No memorials to people while they are still alive.
2. There should be a time lag, ten years may be a good one, before you can memorialize a person or event.
3. Every monument and memorial that is a gift needs to come with enough money to care for its entire lifespan.
