Open Call for Artists: 2018/2020 Prequalified Artist Pool - Request for Qualifications

The City of Palo Alto Public Art Program invites artists and artist teams working in a variety of visual media and artistic approaches to submit qualifications for potential inclusion in a 2018/2020 Prequalified Artist Pool for upcoming public art opportunities. A list of eligible artists selected for the Prequalified Pool will be used by the Palo Alto Public Art Program staff will recommend appropriate applicants for a range of permanent and temporary public art opportunities. Most public art commissions will be associated with municipal and private development projects as they arise throughout Palo Alto during the years 2018 - 2020.

Artists may submit existing artworks for consideration for temporary display within the City. Social practice and performance artists are also welcome to apply for temporary public art initiatives. Artists invited to be part of the Prequalified Pool will be selected based on appropriateness of their previous experience and artistic excellence.

Budgets for permanently sited work will range from $15,000 to approximately $600,000. The project budgets are inclusive of artists fees, fees associated with design, fabrication, installation, and insurance provisions. Temporary public art budgets vary depending on the individual opportunity and may range from $3,000 to $50,000. 

Inclusion in the Prequalified Artist Pool does not guarantee selection for any projects.
