Beth, that is nearly the same version of “no” we are getting here. We even have local companies who have used the materials in other cities trying to make a case for us, but obviously there are those in the engineering
fields who have probably shared this standard “no” message, but where are those who have said yes…?
Please share any findings!
Thanks!

Subject: Unique crosswalks / rainbow crosswalks?
We’ve had repeated requests to do one or more rainbow crosswalks here in Santa Cruz and I LOVE the idea but our Public Works says NO – “Standards are great for several reasons, mostly to do with universal
understandability, split-second decisions, and liability.”
Does anyone know if there is data showing that such crosswalks do NOT have any higher rates of accidents?
Any other resources?
Thanks,
Beth
