FYI… did you see this on the List Serv? May have more good examples of letters of interest that have already received artist’s approval to share.

Lynn,
This is a good letter from Val Britton we have used as an example in our workshops. I like it because it addresses 1)what her work is about; 2) how her practice might resonate with the site (SFO) 3) Relevant
past experience 4)As an artist, Val works in paper collage and water color. Her letter addresses how she might translate this work into an appropriate permanent material. However, now that I look at it again, I think it is way too long. If I were advising
her, I would say the letter should be maybe half that link. Remember, no one reads anymore. I advise artists to get to the point—quickly. In our program, the panel usually does not see these letters. They are useful for the staff to further condense and
summarize in presenting the artist’s work to the panel.

Subject: Wanted: Example of RFQ with outstanding letter of interest
In the first edition of The Artist's Guide to Public Art, I published a full RFQ and the corresponding letter of interest from the artist who went on to win the project, thanks to Jennifer Riddell
and Vicki Scuri for their permission.
I would like to update the second edition of the book with a recent example. If any of you can think of an outstanding letter of interest you've received this year, please let me know and I'll
see if I can get permission from the artist to reproduce it in the book, along with the RFQ it was in response to.
Thank you,
Lynn Basa
