Hello PAN Listserv!
Ben Owen here, Director of Arts@MSP, the Arts and Culture Program at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. We are so looking forward to having you all visit the Twin Cities for the Americans for the Arts 2019 Annual Convention and the Public Art Preconference.
If you happen to be flying into Terminal 1 of MSP on Wednesday, June 12, we have a fantastic lineup of artists ready to welcome you to Minnesota and to set the stage for your convention experience. All performances will be on the secure side of the airport in the North Rotunda of the Airport Mall. If you need help finding the location, please ask one of our friendly Traveler’s Assistance volunteers and they’ll point you in the right direction.
Join us for the following, and honestly, I’m jumping up and down excited to be able to share these talented Minnesotans with you….
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, David Gerald Sutton<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/performing-arts/interview-david-gerald-sutton/> will take you to other worlds with his looping violin. Stop, and be amazed.
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Holly Nelson<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/performing-arts/2019-aftacon-performance-holly-nelson/> will be doing live illustrations in the North Airport Mall Performance Space.
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM, Annie Mack<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/performing-arts/interview-annie-mack/> will stop you in your tracks with her gorgeous and beautifully powerful poems.
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM, Cameron Kinghorn<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/performing-arts/interview-cameron-kinghorn/> (main vocalist for Nooky Jones) will send you on your way to your first night in the TC with some funky neo-soul.
We also have many gorgeous exhibits throughout Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, namely Voyages Through Asmat Art: Selections from the American Museum of Asmat Art at the University of Saint Thomas<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/rotating-exhibits/voyages-through-asmat-art-selections-from-the-american-museum-of-asmat-art-at-the-university-of-saint-thomas/> and Duck, Duck, Grey Duck<http://airportfoundation.org/programs-services/arts-culture/rotating-exhibits/duck-duck-grey-duck-northern-clay-center-exhibit/>, a collaboration with Northern Clay Center. Do make some time to visit these exhibits.
I can’t wait to see all of your happy faces at the precon!
Until then,
Ben
