Hello Francine,
   I have been painting murals on a lightweight aluminum sandwich panel called Dibond (also Max Metal) for many years. The panels are mounted (floated) on pressure treated 2X4’s spaced every two feet.
The murals have held up for many years so far under dire conditions here in New England.  If you have a specific questions about how to prep the panels and what kinds of paint and varnish I use, you can contact me.
