  1. New State Arts Education Data Reporting Abilities -- The Education Commission of the States, the trusted source for comprehensive knowledge and unbiased resources on education policy issues, and the National Endowment for the Arts have released a 50-State Comparison of Arts Education Data Collection and Reporting. This report assesses the capacity of all 50 states and the District of Columbia to identify and report on arts education data already in their statewide education data systems. The comparison reveals which states collect or publish data on student enrollments in arts courses or teachers assigned to those courses. It aims to inform state and national conversations about how to make more information about arts education publicly available—including data that states probably collect but do not make public. Americans for the Arts chairs the Technical Working Group for this initiative. SEPN has been briefed on this initiative during previous 2018 quarterly calls.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
