I have been fielding a lot of questions as of late as to why it costs so much to 'give away money'? At my org it costs only about 10% in direct costs (grants staff, workshops, panels, etc) - I think this is low. We have many funding opps - with some being high
touch and some not which of course changes the ratio per funding stream but as we move towards arguments that continue to pit efficiency against equity - I find myself at a loss for arguing without any comps nationally so.....
Do you know and would you be willing to share with me how much it costs you to get money out the door?
