HOW TO BE AN ANTI-RACIST ORGANIZATION #2

As part of IMAGINE 2020 and our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion work, we will facilitate a monthly virtual event focused on integrating anti-racism into your organization.

On September 14, 1-2:30 p.m., please join Denver Arts & Venues and The Equity Project LLC as we discuss the necessary work organizations must commit to in order to be anti-racist. Last month we hosted the first event on this topic. And while it felt like a great starting point, these conversations need to continue and we hope you will join us on the journey.

This virtual, moderated discussion with Tariana Navas-Nieves – Director, Cultural Affairs, Denver Arts & Venues, and Nita Mosby-Tyler – Chief Catalyst, The Equity Project LLC,  will be hosted on Zoom - a link will be provided to participants upon registration.

The conversation will be framed around what organizations can do to take action with regards to Race and Social Justice. Additional questions will be requested prior to the event.

Register for this FREE panel discussion.

In preparation for the session, participants are encouraged to view the following recordings:

·       IMAGINE 2020 Speaker Series: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion 101

·       How to be an Anti-Racist Organization - Session #1

This discussion will center on anti-racism and racial justice terminology; engaging in explicit conversations about equity, diversity and inclusion with your team; how to bring equity values to your staff and board through proactive recruitment and hiring processes, role building, development, job descriptions, performance management, and goal setting; the value of evaluation and assessments; and more. We also received many requests related to land acknowledgments after our first session, so we’ll discuss this topic as well.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the webinar through chat.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Americans for the Arts] Notes from the August Monthly Network Call

Hi Everyone,

Thank you to those who could join our monthly UAF Network Call on Tuesday. Please find attached a copy of the notes.

As mentioned, if you have discussion topics or program ideas that you’d like us to focus on for what will be a virtual ‘retreat’ in the fall, please let me know!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or use this listserv to connect with each other. If you have discussion topics you’d like to bring up in September, please feel free to email me. Speaking of September, I will be rescheduling our call for 1 week earlier, as I’ll be on a much needed vacation the last week of the month. Look for that updated calendar invite that will go out to this listserv.

All the best,
